To fully organize innovative ideas, we must first consider how to communicate various concepts and processes. This communicative component should NOT be an afterthought but a critical piece of any collaborative process. I propose a virtual visual notebook of various conversations, where each participant is required to submit a "Table of Contents" (TOC) graphic. (As in most journal submission these days). The exercise of creating each TOC not only encourages each of us to quickly communicate with others a visual "abstract", but more important, the process of creating this TOC helps clarify each idea for the creator. We are developing this concept in our on-campus graphics workshops.
