Create a program that will groom postdocs for a career in investing, private equity, venture capital, etc. MBAs speak the language of business and understand the potential and the risks of a given market. Postdocs speak the language of science and engineering, possess a deep technical knowledge, and understand the potential and details of a given technology. Teach postdocs to evaluate markets, perform financial analyses, navigate legal space, etc. By making scientists fluent in the language of business and by teaching them to understand business requirements, more willing AND more prudent investors in hardware, materials, energy, cleantech, and all other fields that require more capital than commercialization of software/apps does.
