Sabbatical for MIT staff to participate in The Engine

If you want to create a truly innovative MIT, create an Engine program for staff and staff retirees to apply for a year-long paid sabbatical to pursue innovations/start-ups that serve the higher education industry. The outputs could be beta-tested on campus. Would help with the retention of excellent staff and stop the professional brain drain that the current personnel policies encourage.

This is a great idea! But, let's expand the applications to more than just higher education. Wouldn't it be great to provide funding for a sabbatical that would focus on creating and developing a start-up within the MIT Engine? How about sharing equity with MIT and the participants?
